In Chinese medicine herbal formulas are an integral part of a treatment plan. Single herb strategies are rarely used as they are not as potent as building a formula with many herbs working together to help heal a health problem.

- Latin: Ramulus Cinnamomi Cassiae
- Gui zhi combines well with herbs that treat colds with runny nose, cough and wheezing. Chills, little or no fever and no sweating.
- Gui zhi is also used in formulas that treat gynecological problems.
